SAFEGUARDING THE CHILDREN OF ST PATRICKS

St Patrick’s RC Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers and external agencies to share this commitment.  All staff and volunteers are subject to an enhanced DBS check.

If any parents, carers or visitors to school have any safeguarding concerns at all they should contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for safeguarding and child protection who is the Headteacher Mrs Hindley.  In her absence they should speak to the Deputy DSL Mrs Rodriguez.  Any concerns regarding the Headteacher in relation to matters of safeguarding should be brought to the attention of our Chair of Governors, Mrs Maureen Woodall, via the school office.

All schools are expected to and required to ensure they adhere to statutory safeguarding procedures in order to keep children safe in and out of school and to promote their welfare and well being.

School practice is informed by the following key documents:

Keeping Children Safe in Education – September 2024

Working Together to Safeguard Children - December 2023

Children Missing Education – Statutory Guidance – August 2024

Lancashire Strategy for Children who go missing

Taking advice from these key documents and with regular safeguarding training and advice from the government and Local Authority and in consultation with parents/carers, children, staff and governors, we have produced the following local policies and procedures.  Copies of these policies are available in the policies section of the school website.

Operation Encompass

Operation Encompass is a police and education early information sharing partnership enabling schools to offer immediate support for children and young people experiencing domestic abuse. Information is shared by the police with a school’s trained Key Adult (DSL) prior to the start of the next school day after officers have attended a domestic abuse incident thus enabling appropriate support to be given, dependent upon the needs and wishes of the child.

For more information, please visit the Operation Encompass website, which can be found HERE
